Listening to America

Hull No Place for Hate invites you to join them on Wednesday, October 25th from 7 to 8:30PM for a community conversation with author Ryan Bernsten via Zoom.

Ryan Bernsten’s book, 50 States of Mind: A Journey to Rediscover American Democracy, is a work of travel nonfiction modeled after *Alexis de Tocqueville‘s extensive American travels and interviews.

Bernsten’s 23,000-mile journey through all 50 states explores the complexities of today’s America by talking with its citizens. With a grant in his pocket and writing and theater skills in his background, Bernsten set out to better understand his country and write about his experiences.

Leading with the desire to listen and overcome our preconceived notions, 50 States of Mind asks how we can bring humanity back into our political conversations to keep our democracy strong. Bernsten’s project is heartfelt and compelling as he seeks an answer to the question, “Is America as divided as it seems?”

Questions will be welcome from participants.
