Mission

Our mission is to act as a change agent, playing three complementary roles:

• Educating the public about the value of diversity, the unconscious bias that exists and the discrimination that results from it, and the need for us all to take action to promote social justice;

• Bringing people, organizations and government together to implement policies and programs that effect change, including supporting basic human rights for all;

• Promoting successes to assure support grows and our actions achieve our vision.

Programs & Events that engage people in the cause of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Partnerships that bring together players who can effect significant change .

Communications that make people aware of events and help educate them on the issues.

Duxbury for All believes Brian Lies is an important voice for diversity equity & inclusion because of his use of diverse characters in the stories he tells. Brian Lies believes that “Employing animals as characters helps us slip past our biases and filters and can ease us into approaching story itself in an unblemished way.  To me, these creatures are our best selves—despite obvious differences, they all live together in peace, in communities that echo ours, but are oddly their own.”

You can learn more about Brian Lies here.

Join the town-wide read of Christian Cooper’s acclaimed book,

Better Living through Birding: Notes from a Black Man in the Natural World.

The Israel-Hamas war

Our colleagues at the Hingham Unity Council have released this statement with which we fully concur:

The Hingham Unity Council acknowledges the enormous grief that is being felt throughout our community in the wake of shocking and horrifying violence and terror in Israel and Gaza. We unequivocally condemn the recent attacks on innocent lives by Hamas. We grieve these losses as our own. As individuals, we believe our most powerful tool at this time is to recognize and honor our shared humanity. We continue to pledge to use our collective voice to call attention to and support all those facing humanitarian crises.

To our communities – Israeli, Jewish and Palestinian: We see your immense pain. We acknowledge the trauma of those in the region and those connected to the region, now and in the future. As you bear the unbearable, we want you to know that there is a community of love and support behind you. We call on our larger community to rise up against hatred, including antisemitism and Islamophobia, and find paths for compassion in the days ahead.

On October 17th, Duxbury for All hosted an informative session on the Israel-Hamas war with Rabbi Howard Cohen of Congregation Shirat Hayam and Glenn Carle, Former National Intelligence Officer for Transnational Threats via Zoom. You can watch this session here.

We’re creating a resource center for understanding roots of this conflict and the people who caught up in it; you can access this Resource Center here.
